Chef Barb at Food Connections provides people like you--people who care about what they and their families eat-- with in-home cooking services, preparing meals in advance in the comfort of your own kitchen, catered to your personal preferences and needs.

Full service in-home cooking, including menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation and packaging people like to eat well but don't have the time or desire to cook for themselves
cooking assistance for dinner parties, luncheons, and other get togethers some people love to invite people over but the menu planning & cooking is too intimidating
limited-service mini-packages though having a personal chef seems luxurious, some people don't need or can't afford all of that luxury but still want to enjoy some of the benefits of having some help in the kitchen

My Philosophy

I am serious about food! Although I don’t live to eat, exactly, I also don’t just eat to live. I think it matters what we put in our mouths and bodies. I believe that food is not just sustenance, but is worth careful consideration. That is why I explore tastes and flavors and new foods, test new cuisines; and never skimp on ingredients. I avoid preservatives and processed foods. I believe all things can be enjoyed in moderation, as a measure of the abundance of God’s provision.

I also believe that food is a way to connect with others. Enjoying delicious tastes with others, while engaged in interesting conversation, is so often at the heart of amazing memories. Family, friends and food are so often connected.

I love satisfying the food cravings of clients, or introducing them to new things. I love preparing familiar, comfortable meals, as well as bringing unexpected surprises to your table.

The Chef

I'm Barb McKay – I'm the owner, chef, and everything else at Food Connections Personal Chef Services.

I’ve had a life-long thing for food. I have always been a selective eater, which inspired me to learn to cook things that were a pleasure to eat and serve. As a stay-at-home mom for many years, I had the time to explore cuisines, test recipes and introduce my friends and family to a variety of foods. My interest in travel has also allowed me to take classes and learn from chefs in France, Mexico & Italy. I value quality, freshness and variety, and see food as a connecting point with friends and family.

Food Connections Personal Chef Service allows me to bring my passion for great food to you. I believe that quality food is important and is an essential way to take care of yourself and those you love. I want to make it easy for you to enjoy time with your friends or family over wonderful food or to know that they are well-fed when you can’t prepare something delicious and healthy for them yourself.
